The other MRI has dropped...
It's official. Gerrit Cole is expected to miss at least one-to-two months for issues with his right elbow.
It was something all Yankees fans dreaded, and suspected, but that none wanted to admit. After two days of speculation following a report that Cole would undergo MRI testing following a spring training game, it is now confirmed the Bronx ace will not be available for opening day.
The Yankees constantly have eyes on them, likely even more so with the number of high-profile signings and off-season moves completed by the team in the last few months. Now, with the Yankees opening the season at Houston, even more speculation will be thrown in the direction of the team.
The Yankees have reportedly sent an offer out to the camp of Dylan Cease, so it is safe to assume the front office is focused on replenishing the bullpen. It's understandable, and with the uncertainty surrounding Cole now, it is all but sure that the Yankees will make one last-ditch effort to secure a power arm.
Of course, only time will tell what happens with both Cole's elbow and the offer sent out to Dylan Cease.
