See you Saturday: UFC 296
Seeing as I need a break from constantly scrolling on X(formerly known as Twitter) waiting on the Yankee's next trade move, why don't we take a look at one of the best-looking UFC cards of the year? Taking place live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, UFC 296 is set to host 13(originally scheduled for 14, we'll get to that) fights, two of which are title bouts. I'll go through some of the fights I'm most looking forward to, with the possibility of some predictions sprinkled in.
Early-Prelims:
As a devout martial arts fan, I do my best to watch every single fight, including these early bouts. Well-known or not, those fighters are putting their bodies and minds on the line to compete, and I feel they deserve to have as many eyes on them as possible. Two of my favorite early fights are:
Cody Durden(16-4-1) vs. Tagir Ulanbekov(14-2-0)
Pre-Lims
Main Card:
Let's get right to it; Leon "Rocky" Edwards vs Colby "Chaos" Covington for the undisputed welterweight championship of the world. There have been 21 title fights in 2023, that's almost two per month, and what a way to end it off. The champion Leon Edwards is coming off a victorious trilogy with former pound-for-pound king Kamaru Usman and he certainly looked the better fighter, especially in their third matchup. Colby on the other hand is coming off a long layoff after beating Jorge Masvidal to a decision in March of 2022.
